In order from you want the rifle the most to the least...

Anything but the SKS; I respect them but aside from if I needed a semi disposable beater, I couldn't ever see myself buying one.

Sks is a great rifle. But the dull grey bayonet gives it that toy look and then when people add a plastic stock it looks like something from toys r us. But the cool thing about the sks is how many are in great condition because of Russia not using many in front line service so Canadians benefit from a near perfect rifle almost new condition and Canadian retailers are to dumb to raise the price to $800 where it should be. Only drawback is the difficulty of putting a decent scope mount on it without permanently altering it.

Thanks buddy you can friend me if you want?

You are welcome! I like being friends with everyone. Some of us old guys take offense easily at young fellows because of their inexperienced
enthusiasm (or whatever). Don't you take offense in turn, stick around and share your fresh point of view even if we grumble on occasion.

I like these red rifles in this order what are your thoughts:
svt-40
Sks
Mosin Nagant
Vz58

And don't want this new
Type 81

Pretty much my ranking and I own the top three. The SVT is just cool, the SKS is a better rifle but but so simple it just does not have the same coolness factor and the Mosin well it is the Mosin, a gazilion made and still going strong. What can you say.

Haha absolutely! I completely agree man. I don't like when people put plastic stocks on sks, it really doesn't look so good.

I think the reason people do it, is because not enough Non-Restricted semi auto options in 7.62x39.

Basically either sks, or VZ-58 (maybe VZ-52, but they are $ now.)

Good thinking man, yeah I think the sks will go up a lot in price, but give it time.

True, but Mosin is a very broad term.

Give me a beautiful Finnish Mosin, any kind, and I'm happy. M24, M27, M28, M28/30, M39, etc ;)

True. Make a rifle for as long as the Mosin you are going to have quite a few variations. Same for the Lee Enfield and Mauser. The Mosin is the least of the three for me but I still think it is cool and own a hex reciever. Now an original 1891 would probably top my list.
