Folks:
Years ago, I bought an Aussie SMLE from Gunnar at Armco out of sympathy. The poor thing had been badly abused - the stock was cut down, the mag was missing, and some uncaring yob had painted it green. I wish I still had pictures - it was a pitiful sight, and I couldn't bear to see her like that.
I dropped the money, dropped more money on the necessary parts for a rebuild from Springfield Sporters (about a month before he decided he didn't want to sell parts into Canada anymore) and that's where the project sat for two years. I looked at the assembled bits and pieces and determined that making this pile of debris into an an attractive working rifle was beyond my abilities.
Enter Lou the Pou, Enfield Saviour, Enemy of Bubba, Defender of Dignity, Restorer of Classics to their correct state.
Pictures do not do it justice. This rifle is in really beautiful condition, lovingly restored by someone who knows exactly what he's doing.
Fit and finish are beyond reproach. I dare say the original stock guys at Lithgow didn't do as good a job. Many thanks again to Lou, a good guy doing good work.
