Time has come to change some of my old rifles for something I always knew I will want: a reliable, short, CRF, laminate or composite stocked, iron sighted and not too heavy rifle.
The Iron sights are a must. I don't know if it is feasable/practical to add them after or just stick to one that already has them.
No Remmys. Mauser style actions are my favourites.
Could it be stainless, Please?

My search is limited by the amount of samples they carry at the local (only) store and by the vague and misleading info in the SIR/Wholesale/russels catalogues.
Does anyone have the ticket for this quest?

Thank you for the help.

OOO, the caliber...almost forgot. 308 or 300WM.

stainless crf you are stuck with a Ruger Mk2 or a Winchester M70

Winchester has an excellent adjustable trigger but needs rings and bases, Ruger has excellent rings and bases included but has a ####ty non-adjustable trigger (a good gunsith can do it)

Neither is available with irons.

I've had several of both and they both shoot and function well and are good values. Pick the one that feels best to you

yes, you'd have to look at the m70 classic laminate (WSM only) or m77 mk2 laminate

iron sights would have to be installed on both

the pushfeed, Remington 673 Guide rifle in 308 would fit your bill, other than the fact its a pushfeed Rem :D

Are CZs freefloated? Cause for sure they use walnut for stocks + no SS.
They are also on the hefty side. Never had a set trigger either.
how hard is to put some aftermarket sights?...... Can't really trust anyone to do it...

The CZ 550 Medium would be a real beauty of a rifle. Not sure if they are free floated or not but I can't imagine having any problem with it.

the winchester model 70 compact is a nice rifle as is the remington model 7 I realize it is push feed but they work well
