Art Luppino, on the M-14 Firing Line board, is making a tool that allows you to disassemble the bolt in the rifle. It uses the head from a combo tool. The only thing you can't do without pulling the bolt is replace the firing pin. No pics but sounds like a pretty cool idea for a quickie extractor or spring replacement.

Or....you can just get yourself any version of the Garand M3 tool.....which is effectively the same (new) design...from 60+ years ago.

You put it in the chamber, close the bolt slowly on it, lift the lever..

Or the cheap way is sticking a 30-06 case in and use a flat head to carefully remove extractor.

:)

i've done the '06 case thing- it's about as effective as anything else- only reason i've got an '06 case- keep it my possibles pouch along with an extra set of buttstock tools and a broken case extractor for the 14

there will be bolt disassembly tools, similar to the "strobel tool" availlable en-masse.... in canada...... within the next 6 months or less :D :D and that's ALL i can say ;)
