In your opinion...

at 25 yards? at 50 yards? at 500 yards?

what ammo? open sights? optics?
any weight limit?
and any price range?

Opinions are like a**holes, everyones got one and they all stink. But in all honesty I've had two 1022, ones a stock tack driver that shoots better than the other. All comes down to the individual gun and ammo it likes in my opinionn which stinks aswell

Asking for people's opinions? You'll get the answers that are right for the people you're asking as rifles and opinions differ greatly.

Any high quality 10/22 derived rifle, a TC benchmark (I think they were called).

My Volquartsen consistently shoots sub moa at 100 yards for five shots. I have put ten rounds in .400" at 50 yards. My rifle has a heavy stainless barrel threaded into a stainless action.

Lol 1" with a semi under $1000. +1 for Volquartsen but $1500+ pricetag.
An aftermarket barrel and receiver with target bolt will run you $700. Then add the trigger group and stock = $300-$500. So just over 1K and it's a hand built gun and may not shoot great.
Wanstalls has two different set ups, magnum research and tactical solutions. They are great guns but run $875-$1300 tax/shipping in. Atleast you know everything was built to work together.

Definitely consider the Dlask DAR .22. It's heads and shoulders above the average brand name semi, and less expensive and more available than exotic imports like VQ and Magnum Research. Plus you can order it configured however you like and can be assured of follow up service if necessary.

I have built dozens of custom Rimfire rifles and I can tell you that you can save a lot of time, money and heartache by buying a DAR22 from Dlask... be sure to order their trigger job or plan on sending it to David over at Brimstone. You won't be sorry going this route.

Under $300 Marlin 60 or 795

Over $500 TC Benchmark, browning buckmark

Over $1000 VQ

Not much between $300 and $500 that will bet a marlin in the accuracy dept.

Like others have said, everyone has their own opinion. Mine is that, for the money, the finest semi-auto rimfire currently on the market is the CZ 512. CZ quality, CZ accuracy and takes standard CZ rinfire magazines.

I am dismayed that this rifle is not more popular as it is a truly amazing gun. I suspect that its Euro looks and ergonomics turn a lot of buyers off as the market seems to lean more towards guns with big time "look cool" factor... But don't overlook this gun. With a price tag of well under $600, you won't find a more accurate, more reliable .22 semi auto anywhere.

Obviously there is little experience on these boards with the now discontinued Thompson Center 55 series. They were modelled after the 10/22 were mated to shillen match barrels at the factory and sold in the $700 range in stores in Canada. They are a sub moa shooter with the right ammo. The tight chamber made loading some types of ammo difficult, as did the inconsistent ramp angle on several magazine followers.

If you can find one they are the most accurate factory semi auto 22, non-restricted rifle made, period. This is based on a lot of information from other shooters, my own personal experience, and the simple fact that anyone who has shot one can attest to its accuracy.

I don't have much problem with my Remington 597 or my Ruger 10/22... There are far better out there but what do you want to pay? By the way a lot of people will flame the AR7 but for what it was meant to do it is very good not supper great but very good.

I had a CZ/Bruno bolt action I loved that rifle even though I could never shoot rabbits if the popped out 20 meters or less after that I would hit them every time yes I do think CZ makes some very good stuff.
