The following instructions are for the installation of the Incarnation Arms Folding Stock on a WK-180. The WS-MCR would add another step regarding how to tighten the set screws at the top of the adapter. As I do not have one I am not offing any instructions on this step. If someone wants to chime in with the correct procedure I will add it to the instructions so that both models are covered.
Tools Needed:
1. 5/32 Hex driver
2. 3/16 Hex driver
3. AR Buffer Castle Nut Tool
4. Blue Loctite
Installation Time: 10 minutes including removal of the factory buffer tube.
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions:
A. Remove stock and WK-180 buffer tube using an AR15 buffer tool to loosen the buffer castle nut and then unscrew the buffer.
B. Using a 5/32 hex driver, remove the factory adapter screw that was exposed when the buffer tube was removed.
C. Installed the supplied dowl pin into the new adapter using a drop of blue Loctite to hold it in place.
D. Offer up the adapter to the gun by aligning dowel holes in the receiver and adapter.
E. Open up folding stock mechanism to expose inner working and provide access to for new socket head cap screw. Note - the takedown push button is under tension and will require some force to actuate it enough to unlock the stock. This is made more awkward by the stock not mounted on the gun and the actuator being at the end of the stock.
F. Place stock into adapter recess followed by supplied QD Mount (looks like an "L" and fills in tombstone hole in stock) and then the locking star washer and longer supplied cap screw.
G. Tighten as required using 3/16 hex driver.
H. Install two set screws into the adapter and tighten. These are not used in the WK-180 installation.
I. Admire your handiwork.
Note - my early series WK-180 receiver was not tapped to the correct depth upon initial installation to accept the longer socket screw/lock washer.
A quick trip to Canadian Tire resulted in the 1/4-28 SAE tap that was needed to finish the job.
You will find the hard anodizing used on the receiver will require a fair amount of tap/oil to lubricate the tapping operations.
Suggest you turn in the tap 1/2 a turn and then turn it out 1/4 turn until the proper depth is achieved (you will feel the tap want to stop turning when it bottoms out).
Any attempts at running the tap down to the bottom of the hole without proper lubrication or reversing the tap will probably result in a snapped tap and a whole lot of cursing.
The kit's OAL is the same as my fixed Magpul MOE stock that I had retrofitted to the firearm.
Closeup of installed hardware through sling mount port.
For Reference - I can get a cheek weld to see through the high mount Vortex Crossfire. My daughter will require a riser.
Length of pull is short for me (would be fine if I was wearing heavy cloths). T-Shirt wearing weather would have the stock pulled out 1-2 notches.
Note - with stocks this short I would suggest retrofitting the WK-180 with a straighter pistol grip to allow your shooting hand to grip the rifle in a more natural position.
Stock wobble in the extended position is no more than standard Magpul CRT. Fully retracted, it feels like a fixed stock. No movement.
