I was planning on starting to reload for my newly aquired .243 today. This is what I have on hand:

winchester 80gr PSP
Hornady 87gr BTHP
Hornady 105gr A-max

Imr 4350
rl-15

I am going to start with the Win PSP's. My Speer 11th reloading manual lists the Speer 80gr spitzer to be loaded with a minimum load of Imr4350 @ 41.5gr (3008fps) and a max load of 45.5gr (3288fps).

My Lyman 48th edition lists the same bullet to be loaded (again w/ Imr 4350) at a minumum load of 39gr (3035fps) and a max @ 41.5 (3194fps).

can someone help me out here?

any load data for the 105 a-max and 87 bthp would also be appreciated.

thanks

This is why you work your loads up, rifles and more specifically, chambers, barrels, brass, primers and powder lots very in make up, and therefore loading data varies.
Take your more conservative max load back it off 5-8% and step it up 1/2 a grain at time, watching for signs of high pressure.
Welcome to the wacky but fun world of reloading.

243 loadin data

The Speer manual uses actual sporting firearms with standard barrel lenghts while most others use longer test barrels. Each manual will have slightly different information, there are so many variables involved. I have a Rem. 700 that likes hot loads and a Browning A Bolt that produces tiny groups with 0.5 gr. above min. Start with the min. load and work your way to one that shoots best in YOUR rifle. Enjoy

Inconsistent lad data

i am running into the same thing with reloading my 30 06. Sierra says to start at 41.5 and max is 48.7 and Hodgdon says to start at 49 and max is 52.5, both of these are with IMR 4064 and Hornady 165 BTSP. thats why you need several manuals and forums to get you started. Have fun!

So Goose you've posted this query on this site and at least one other site, and the same thing is being told to you. Too many variables hence many variences in charge data.
BTW: if you actually read the preambles in most manuals this is discussed there.
