Increase capacity of 870 express

Hi:
Anyone know how to increase 1 round of 870 express that comes with mag extend (+2 ) i shoot 2 3/4 , looks like the extra round can goin halfway ,still need 1 1/2 inch room , can i cut the mag follower or cut mag spring ( or replace ).

Only way I can think of is to install a +3 mag extender. The mag follower is only about an inch long, and cutting the mag spring might leave you with unreliable loading when the mag is near empty.

"...can I cut the..." That won't do anything. You'd need a longer mag tube.

Seems like a lot of trouble to go to for one round, but you need a magazine extension. Check out the options at S&J Hardware.

Cutting the spring, will result in your next thread being titled
"Stupid 870 won't feed last 2 rounds, why not?"
Try taking out the black part that goes just under the mag cap, and holds the spring in, just push the spring in and screw the cap on. That part is not absolutely necessary for non-essential operation (meaning, it'll work without it, but if you stake your life on this gun, you shouldn't be taking parts out). If that doesn't work, your just going to have to get another extension tube, or some aguila mini shells, if you can find them.

A +2 tube extension will fit flush or slightly ahead of the muzzle with an 18" barrel. The +3 extension is a flush fit with a 20" barrel. You need the longer tube to accommodate an extra shell properly.

Heh, I think I started that thread a couple years ago......LOL...........Ya, you need the extension tube.
