OK so I've bought A LOT of firearms in my time from a ton of different vendors and have been fortunate 95% of the time to be satisfied with their service. I have just had by far the best purchase experience to date.
The background.
I was looking for a middle of the road, bolt action hunting rifle in a .308 (my favorite calire) with a 22" barrel and a synthetic stock. I either looked or have already owned Savage, TC, Stevens, Marlin and Mossberg in the economy class. I happened to go on to the Tradex site to see what good used stuff was showing and noticed the Zastava Commercial M98 listed for only $395.00. It got me thinking so I started digging for info on the net. Didn't find much so I let it go and continued looking at other brands. After a couple days I went back to the site and checked out the rifle again. I really liked the look and figured I couldn't go wrong with this proven action at that price so I decided to try one.
The Call.
I called Tradex at noon on Friday (Aug. 26th). I asked the basics about the rifle and got a full, comprehensive description of the features and the value based at this very attractive price. I had a great chat and felt reassured that this was a smart purchase. I ordered the rifle and a set of weaver bases and hung up the phone to start the waiting process.
Christmas Morning. (Monday August 29th)
Got up early this morning to put my yard back together after the passage of Irene. Took me a bit longer han I tought so I was stil home at 8AM. Mail guy arrived with a couple packages and low and behold a long riflebox. I was truly shocked to see the Tradex address on the corner. Wow Quebec to Nova Scotia in basically 1/2 a business day on expedited service (wow Canada Post).
The Unveiling
I am immediately impressed by the fit and finish of this rifle. Heavy gloss bluing, comfortable synthetic stock and a tight but smooth and robust action. Havent cleaned the grease out or scoped it yet but I am truly excided about this latest purchase.
I can't say enough about Tradex or how this whole transaction was handled. Awesome, informative, friendly folks to deal with. I can't wait to get to the range and toss some lead!!
