Inexpensive 5.56/223

So, you shot one and managed 12 MOA so everyone's mini must be 12 MOA?

So what exactly then is "ethically dispatching" a coyote? An instant kill headshot? What if the coyote runs 20 yards after hit? Is it no longer ethically dispatched? What are you inferring here? A dead coyote is a dead coyote. Poor ethics in hunting may perhaps be taking a shot that you know you cannot make.

If joe blow can hit a coyote all day long at 200 meters with his mini or any other gun for that matter, than a shot taken at a coyote at that range is only un-ethical if he is deliberately trying to wound it rather than kill it. You cannot call someone's ethics into question just because a rifle you shot was not up to the task. You are assuming people's motives.

Look, i’m not going to debate this with you further.
If you think you can take coyotes at 200m with a mini-14 then have at it.
Personally, I know what a mini can and can’t do at 200m and taking coyotes with one at that distance is, imho dumb and irresponsible.
It’s my opinion as someone who has shot coyotes with a Mini-14. Feel free to disagree.
If you’ve managed to hit the proverbial pot of gold in the accuracy department with one, congrats.

BUT did u have a tactical version tho ??

A friend of mine has the FX version of the SU-16, the one that looks like an AR anyway if I got the FX part wrong. It was a lot better feeling rifle than the other SU-16's I've shot and it actually seems to be not a bad rifle. I'd still take an WK180-c over any SU model any day of the week though.

I shot coyotes with a mini 14 for 25 years. "Dumb and irresponsible" is casting judgement. You know what YOUR mini can do - not necessarily someone else's mini or all mini's in general. I have owned minis that couldn't hit the broadside of a barn and sold them. I have had a few that were as accurate as needed. You don't own some kind of moral high ground here.

I never claimed to hold higher moral ground, as indicated by my use of 'ymmv' and 'imho'.
If someone is actually reading this thread, and looking for a .223/5.56 rifle capable of taking coyotes at 200m they should, imo, know that there is debate whether the Mini is a suitable tool to do so.

Coyotes are a fragile creature.... I find more often than not, me and many others I know will just aim for center of mass and just hope for a hit anywhere (using anything larger than .22.... That's usually all it takes to out right kill them or at least slow them down for a follow up shot. Think needing a follow up shot is unethical? Just watch a video of a coyote being killed by wolves, dont worry, mother nature has a much more nasty plan for their demise.

Time to satrt my very own new thread.

What is the most expensive fire arm that you would feel comfortable clubbing a baby seal with?
Accuracy is not a part of the discussion.

My apologies beltfed. I didn't mean for this to go south.
