I'm looking at picking up a WK-180C with my upcoming tax return and want to top it with a prism sight in the 1x or 3 x magnification range. My interest was initially in the Vortex Spitfires, but then I had a peak at the Burris AR-X and AR-332... Anybody have one that they can comment on, or any suggestions in the same price/quality range?

And before anyone else can suggest it I'll just start by suggesting to myself "buy once, cry once" ELCAN, S&B, Nightforce, Tangent Theta, Leupold MK6, etc... I know I don't want a fancy combat optic. I want a plinking optic, that maybe I can use for close range hunting as well.

Thanks,

I think Primary Arms also has prism sights in about the same price range as Burris and Vortex. I can't comment on any of them, other than I too am in the market and have considered all three brands.

I'll check them out. I'm looking because after playing with the 1-4x24 Viper PST I have realized I don't want something that bulky next time. I like my Vortex so that's why I leaned that way at first, but people seem pretty positive about Primary Arms and Burris so I'll look into them more.

Primary Arms are made in the same factory in China as Vortex, and their platinum line is made in the same factory as Nightforce. While I'd take a Nightforce over their platinum line, I prefer their stuff to Vortex's. They use better glues in their construction than Vortex, which makes them more durable at extreme weather conditions (something we all look for in Canada.) Their ACSS reticle is also excellent stuff.

The stuff coming out of that factory is really good for the money, and PA seems to be taking a huge market share from Vortex in the US. Something to consider.

I've found a good deal ($325) on a Primary Arms 5x so waiting for it to come in. I will let people know how it is. Reviews I've seen have been good and it's an affordable ACOG. I would love a Trijcon ACOG but for $1000 less it's worth a shot. I'll be running it on an full size AR15

This June, Bushnell will release the Lil P, a very compact 1x prism sight that weighs 8oz. Looks to be one of the smallest ever.
