Just wondering if anybody knows much about this single shot benchrest rifle. I may have an opportunity to pick one that has fired less than 50 rounds for a pretty reasonable price. Completely bone stock.
Any thoughts, what are they worth?.
Thanks

I use to own one. Cases came out Sammi or CIP once fired. [Can't remember] So no tight necks or chambers. Will fire the standard Sako brass/rounds it was designed for. Accurate as a non-benchrest factory barreled varmint gun will get. Was able to get under 1/2 moa no problem. Nice small Vixen single shot action, nice wood as usual.
I new a guy who had one in 22PPC and loved it on varmints.

One day

Friend of mine from Italy has one, I used it when he was over here hunting one time. Scary accurate, I really liked it. Unfortunately, that was the only one I've ever had my hands on. - dan

maybe, people outside of the Benchrest crowd will see the accuracy of the 6PPC and its benefits. Until then, I will be one of the elitists.

I had one back in the 80's and a matching 22/250. Looking back on it I'm surprised I shot it as well as I did considering I just shot off bags. It really was almost a no brainer to shoot under a half inch. It seems to me I sold it just prior to the registration period for around 8 or 9 hundred U.S. I really don't know what the value is today.

It's been tried in F-Class a few times with 14" twist barrels, but past 300 meters it wouldn't hold a candle to a .223 with VLD bullets. Everyone went to the Norma 6BR instead and 8" twist barrels and bypassed the 6PPC probably because of good Lapua brass, extra powder capacity and no need to neck turn. Without string shooting and waiting to machinegun those 5 rds in the wind condition might have something to do with it when 20 shots alternate pairs shooting is the game.

I know the Americans had quite of few PPC's and BR's in the praries where varmints rule, but maybe times have changed. It's true the BR crowd have a found a winner in the 6PPC because it's been a few decades and they quit experimenting with anything else. It just plain works, but like anything else it needs a custom chamber, tuned neck fit and top shelf barrel to make it perform optimally.

is lacking for F Class but what I was referring to was as a cartridge out to 300 plus or minus and as a varmint caliber...... WOW.

One can chamber it up for a No Turn neck and it still will shoot circles around other calibers.

I think my next varmint cartridge will be a 20PPC which I was talked into. I have the components so why not.
