Info Needed on H&K HK940 30-06

Gentlemen
I have a trade in the works, and the firearm I am considering is an H&K 940 Series, in 30-06. I have always wanted a 223 version but this 30-06 is interesting.
Can anyone tell me anything about the 940, and what would it be worth?


It comes with a 10 shot clip cut back to 5 shots, and another spare clip with a five shot capacity. It also has a quick detachable scope mount for a 1” scope.

Can anyone help me with information on the gun, and if it is a desirable item?
I don't think it was around very long, but was it the gun or the price?

They are a good gun, not my preffered by reasonable. They were available for a good number of years, and you actually bump into them here in the Maritimes reasonably often (considering thier scarcity). They were never pushed hard in sales, and were pretty pricey items. Worse the scope mounts etc tended to be far more costly than say a mount for a generic rifle.
I wouldn't class them as that desirable, a good reliable semi, if you like Euro looks then its a fine choice though.
Hard to say what the $$ value would be without seeing it, but 1200 would seem fair off the top of my head, as while I say you meet them a fair bit, I haven't seen one for sale in a year or two.
