I inherited a 270 Husky and have experienced some difficulties finding a model identification for the Registry. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Bolt action, swinging floorplate, blued, walnut Monte Carlo stock.

Here are all the markings.

On top of the barrel:
Husqvarna Vapenfabriks A.B. 270 Winch

Side of barrel, near receiver:
Crown, squiggle or stylized initial like an L or a Roman II, then Nitro underneath.

The only other marking is the 6 digit serial number.

There is a "Sticky," on a thread, someone will tell you which one, that has great information.
The only thing I will say is if it does not have the workd "HUSKY," on the barrel, then you called it wrong by saying it was a Husky.
Husqvarna made a lighter weight model in the 60s, actually their lowest priced at the time, and it was marked with the word HUSKY on the barrel. When you speak of a "Husky," this is the model that should be referred to.

The Sticky is at teh start of this very section, above. You should be able to identify yours, somewhere in the thread.
I stole this from a Baribal posting on the thread, to explain "Husky."

The H-5000 (A.K.A. 1640 "Husky") was the "economy" or "plainer" model of the 1640 series. The barrel length is 560mm (22.05"). In theory the 'Husky" stamped rifles were supposed to end up in Canada while the ones stamped "Tradewinds" were supposed to be delivered to the USA. But, in fact, it seems to have plenty of the "Canadian" model that ended up in the States. As per litterature, the .308 Win caliber was not ordered by Tradewinds for their H-5000...

Well from the (very) summary exposure you made of your rifle, I'd bet for a 1640 series.

Without a really detailed description (much better; pictures) I can tell you what this is.

As H4831 said, there is the HVA sticky above the hunting rifle pages, where you may find a match for your rifle.

But, for the CFC registry, record it as a "1640"..... if it's one, of course.

Definitely not stamped "Husky", just everyone I have encountered so far with a Husqvarna simply calls them all a Husky.

I will try to get some pics up.

Without pictures its hard to tell. in Pre 55 HVA actions the word SWEDEN is stamped on top of the receiver, proofmark and the word Nitro are stamped on the flat on the bottem of the reciever ring. When introduced to the US it was advertiseed as the " HVA Improved Mauser"
In 1969 the Model 8000 Hva Action was Introduced. Outwardly, the M8000 reciever is similar to that of the eary HVA, but is slightly longer and has a wide and wellrounded tang surface. The M8000 features include non-slotted forward locking lugs, safety lug, recessed bolt face, #### ON OPENING, enclosed bolt sleeve, side safety, cocking indicator, adj trigger.
This is out of " Bolt Action Rifles", 3rd edtion, by Frank de Haas.
Have a Carl Gustaf 270 With the M9000 bolt, only difference is the Jeweled bolt of the M8000.
Pm me if you have any further questions.

Got a few other pics, but photoshop crashed while I was loading these.

This is an early 3000 Crown Grade or a 1640 MC, but to me, it's more likely a 3000 Crown Grade.

Post your pics in the Husqvarna sticky thread, please.
