I'm presently looking to buy a use Browning BBR in .338 winmag
but I can't find any info on the Browning site. Is this an old model like pre A-bolt?
The seller does not send any photos and no it's not a CGN membre.
The ad says stainless barrel.........
Don't know if the stock is wood or synthetic, any help would be appreciated.

BBR's were a heavier action and larger bolt and made prior to the A-Bolts.

I think they were made only chrome moly so the barrel may have been replaced. Originally only in wood stocks although many replaced them with a McMillan.

This is from the 2003 Standard Catalog of Firearms (referring to the BBR):

"It has 24" barrel with an adjustable trigger and fluted bolt. It features a detachable magazine under the floorplate and was furnished without sights. The finish is blued with a checkered, walnut, Monte Carlo stock. It was manufactured between 1978 and 1984 by Miroku."

In Exc. condition - $475; Good condition - $350.

I bought a new one in 1984. Planned on cutting it down for a truck gun. First time I shot it,I changed my mind. Was the nicest shooting 338 WM,I'd ever seen. No kick at all, more like a 30-06.
