Hi,

I am considering purchasing a Beretta 92FS. Does anyone have any words of wisdom? is this a good gun? issues, pros, cons?

Thanks in advance for your comments

I have one and love it.
It is very well built, solid, accurate and a breeze to strip down for cleaning.
I have read some posts saying that it has a large grip but I have stubby fingers and it seems to fit my hand quite well.
Go for it.

I think it's a great gun, but that's only my opinion.

Every gun has its fans and its detractors. And I don't think any handgun available in Canada today is less than excellent.

Why not do a search using the word "Beretta" in the pistols and revolvers forum. You'll probably find a ton of information.

But you won't know until you shoot one whether it's for you. Then you'll know if you like the stock sights, if the mag release is in the best place for you, if you like the feel of the trigger or the grip, if it's easy for you to field strip, if accessories you like are available for it, if you like how it feels when it fires, even if you like the sounds the action makes.

If you are set on getting a Beretta 92FS, but find that the grip is a bit large for your hands, you might want to have a look at either the Vertec (discontinued, unfortunately, but still available in some gunshops) or the Elite 1A, which shares the same frame as the Vertec. They have a straight backstrap rather than the arched 92FS backstrap, and fit smaller hands much better.

I love mine. It has always been reliable, accurate and handles wellin my hands. However, make sure you feel one up before you buy it as the grip is rather large

Accurate, esthetically pleasing and feeds any ammo you give it. Small hands may have trouble gripping it properly...

92FS is my favourite pistol

Accurate, esthetically pleasing and feeds any ammo you give it
that says it all :)

Grip has never been a problem with my medium size hands; I actually find larger grip makes the gun easier to control during recoil (92FS regular vs. Vertec)

My 92FS Inox has 100% reliable; the only time it ever malfunctioned is with seriously under loaded ammo (one box). Go for it!

92FS is an excellent choice. Accurate and reliable to a fault. Personally the Inox versions are more desirable especially the Brigadier model.
The US Army has been using this pistol for the last 20 years as its service firearm.(hundreds of thousands of units sold). Longstanding unique design that has continued to be improved over the years.
You can go wrong.

A little gem if you can find it is the Beretta 92FS type M. A small compact pistol with slim single stack 8 shot magazine. I owned one (the 92SB type M) and it was very accurate...I regret selling that little gun.
