Hello, I am putting together a C7 clone and am wondering what type sling I need- I cannot find any info or good pictures on just what I`m looking for.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The C-7 issue sling is just a 1 1/4 " black nylon "silent sling" with two plastic buckles on it. Nothing special at all to it. We also have patrol slings that are a 3 point style but they are not the greatest. And are not really general issue.
Hope this helps

get a blackhawk or spectre sling for your rifle

the CF issued patrol slings are pure garbage

I dunno about them being pure ####e. Rather appreciated the progress in issue slings between 1991 when I had the single sling in the Gulf and 2003 when I had the Assault Sling in Bosnia. Having carried everything from FN C1A1 and SMG to C7 and C7A1s on issue slings and all my hunting rifles on conventional slings, I liked the versatility.

The Assault Sling is not an infantry walk-in-the-woods sling. It is a very good stand on guard and do VCP sling. In a toboggan harness, it might be a very good thing. Where I truly valued the across the chest carry was whenever I had to look at some guy's papers or look him in the eye inside his vehicle. Having my rifle RIGHT THERE but with absolute muzzle control made me feel that I was in full control of my weapon. Whenever I had to walk the perimeter with my guys, I would unsnap the front snap and carry my rifle as a carbine on a loose carry at my side.

signed an NCO who has in fact been shot at, not just some Airsoft poser

i see where you're coming from but in the reserves the slings come in pretty dismal shape and i've broken 3 patrol slings already... the stupid button keeps coming off and some are issued without the button what so ever... and the black strings i replaced with paracord to make it more durable

i personally use the spectre SOP sling for my C7A1, the design is like the issued stuff, so far so good

Spectres are good slings..

.. but each sling only fits one rifle or shotgun, and it requires fine muscle movements to "operate" the sling, same with the issue patrol sling.

The button on the issue patrol slings is another problem, most don't work, are rusty/dirty and seized or just don't do up so they of course are fixed by gun tape.

The rubber stoppers for the sling loops are also a continuous problem, also fixed with gun tape.

The CF "patrol sling" is CRAP - its not even a good example of a poor rendition of a 3 pt sling.

A single pt. sling is not ideal with a rifle - but with a carbine it allows much better control w/o the entanglement issues of a 3pt.
