I picked up an interesting ammo crate last week, hoping some resident experts can decipher some of the markings for me, Here's what I have.
Brown painted WW2 Canadian .303 Ammunition Box. The box is constructed of wood with iron fittings. It has a removeable lid which is secured by 1 fixed & 1 hinged iron bar. It has 2 original green cotton webbing carry handles & has it's original black painted removeable steel liner and lid.
Stamped into the bottom of the box is H 13 3 P as far as I can tell. Type H 13 Box, not sure on the 3P, 3'rd pattern?
On the right end the makers stamp & date, PWP 42. I'd like to know what maker PWP is.
The tin liner is stamped GSW 43. General Steel Wares I'm pretty sure, my mom worked at the Hamilton plant!
The box has paper labels on the front, back & sides ___ CARTRIDGES .303 INCH MK VIIz IN CHARGERS,with the double green rectangle identifier.
The original round count has been inked out and a red paper FRACTION sticker applied with a black on white 680 sticker for the revised count.
D.I. 30.12.44X LOT 27. I think Defence Industries Dec 12 1944 manufacture date.
Also has GOVERNMENT EXPLOSIVE GROUP 6 sticker with red print on white background.
There are two (cut) cloth tape seals with black borders on the lid marked I.N.O & ESQ. Not sure what these mean.
The lid also has REUSABLE PACKAGING RETURN TO NAVAL MAGAZINE stencilled in yellow.
There are multiple stencils in red & yellow that read ANNL INS ESQ 6-63, 5-64, 6-65, 3-66, 6-66, 4-67, 4-68. I assume these are annual inspection dates? What does the ESQ stand for?
There are more stencils that have been over painted in the past & others obscured by stickers & tape that I won't remove. One at least I think is a repacking stamp.
Any answers on the unknowns would be appreciated.thanks

Tootall,
that's about the worst example of a comparison photo I've seen anyone pick!
Took me 15 minutes to see the crates, mine isn't a leggy blonde. You're lucky I'm not set up to post pics, or I'd take off my pants, sit on my crate & send you a selfie!
My crate looks like the 2'nd one off the floor with web handles instead of rope. I picked the crate up in Nanaimo, 120 Km North of victoria. With the naval magazine note on the lid I wondered if Esquimalt might come up.

I can Photoshop the model out, if that helps.
Anything to keep Nobletrade from following thru on his selfie threat... :)

Yes, if you got the crate in Naniamo, then Esquimalt is a likely guess.

The dimensions I have listed here (inches) are:-
H.13 Mk 1 LxWxH:- 17 x 8.5 x 10.85
Mk 1E LxWxH:- 16.375 x 8.75 x 11.1
Mk 2 LxWxH:- 16.625 x 9 x 11.6

Just measured my H 13 box, LxWxH is 16 1/2x9x11.
The tin liner is 14x7x9 1/4.
The base finish looks to be green tinted wood preservative. The brown paint Is applied over the preservative.
Any hints on how to find out who manufacturer code PWP represents? No luck so far with Internet searches.
