Can some of you, who know a lot more about old military rifles than I do, give me some more info on this rifle.
It is about 1224 mm length, over all. One of the numbers on top of the chamber is 1933 T.
Any further info, as to what variation it is, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot guys, this shows there sure is some good talent around regarding these rifles!
Interesting that it is stated it has a two piece stock. Here is a picture of the great job they did of joining the two pieces.
I think it has really weathered the years good, even the bore is shiny bright with sharp rifling.

The thing that puzzles me is that all the Finn Mosins that I have do not have the later straight rear sight but the early curved sight with the Arshkins lined out on one side and meters on the other. The barrel bands on the rifle that you have are the spring type and not the screw type. Also most Finnish rifles had the barrels replaced by Tikkaloski or VTK.I have a similar rifle and it does not have the previous mentioned items and it does not have a hooded front sight.

Thats cause you have m91's not 91/30's.

Strange my mosin that is like the OP is dated 1943.Tikkaloski barrel, screw barrel bands, curved rear sight with Arskins lined out and meters stamped in and no hooded front sight.I'm not saying that early variations didn't carry forward but I find it unlikely that later variations would be found on a 1933 Russian barrel unless it was pristine. From the OP's pics it was a russian barrel.

Your m91 was made from recycled parts with a 1943 Finnish barrel but its still a m91. The OP's rifle was produced as a 91/30 in 1933. The Finns used the m91 until the end of the war and had far more of them than 91/30s.

x2 I just picked one up like that. It's barrel is dated '42, but it is exactly as moose describes.

If the OP, or for that matter moose want some good reading got to http://7.62x54r.net/ I'd say start on the 'Master Model Reference' page and go from there. (The finnish rifles are a ways down that page)

Another good site to gleen info from is http://www.mosinnagant.net/finland/default.asp

Also, if I were to OP I would slug the bore before shooting it. The Finns usually rebarreled their rifles with a .308 diameter bore as opposed to the .311 bores that the soviets used. As such, and because Finn rifles are a lot rarer than the run of the mill mosin, I would probably watch the type of ammo that you shoot. The smaller bore will shoot the bigger bullet, but it will cause it to heat up a lot quicker, and if you do a lot of shooting it will wear things down more rapidly. My Finn will be eating handloads only.

Very interesting info in post # 14.
Having had no experience with them at all I must ask, are they good shooters and if so what is availability like for reloading components ?
