??Info please??

Big heavy powerful.

Good quality built airgun.

Recommend that you actually hold one and see if the size bothers you at all.

Looking at a used one? New?

Cheers

So far, it's been loaned to me for a lengthy time to try out & 'play with'. It's used but in like new condition. Just took it down to the basement and put two successive shots through 1 1/2" Cedar board. Powerful, yes, and heavy. I'm scared to play with it too much because when I do so, I usually end up 'needing';).

Used and in great shape, what are they worth?

I have one and enjoy it a lot...yes it is heavy but I do not mind...mine has a scope and I an very satisfied with the accuracy...you are aware that these need to be registered due to the velocity they generate!?

When you do get one  you need to put either a good scope or airgun rated scope on it. Airguns such as that one really pound scopes to pieces, much more than a magnum rifle. You will notice that the scope rail has a stop at the back end of it. You will find that after a few hundred rounds this stop will start to embed itself into aluminum rings.

I have extensively used a Diana 52, same gun but with a fancier stock. Chronographed at over 1200 fps with regular weight pellets. Really nice.

Thanks guy.
- What would your choice of scope be, make, model & power?
- I forgot about the registration aspect until you mentioned it. I think this one is registered but I will inquire.

Obviously you're playing on my willpower, or lack thereof:redface:. I'm starting to 'feel the need';):D.

Had a bit of a time until some research showed the need for a Leapers Scope mount UTG 17.1 to compensate for BBL drop. I purchased mine from DL Airguns for 20.00 Problem solved. dlairgun.com

Thanks for the tip, it looks like a great mount. It mentions that it fits a "filler screw" on the rifle. Is this the post/stop?

Airguns such as this have a purpose. They are especially handy when you have someplace to shoot them, like a farm/cottage/camp where there is a bit land, yet you don't want to shoot a 22 or larger rifle. The light pellets loose velocity very quickly after about 50 to 100m so it is safer to plink with it if you don't have a good backstop. If your "play" areas are limited, then you won't appreciate using a high power airgun as much.

Darn air guns

I have been bitten by the bug also. I bought a BSA about 12 years ago that shoots 860's. I also bought a Crosman Discovery that is precharged and it puts them in the 980's. Just bought a pair of Crosman 2289's for plinking with my son. Then ordered a Diana model 54.... Oh the shame....

No earmuffs.. just some glasses and all the pellets I can shoot for the day... Loads of fun for sure. The squirrels aren't impressed...

Thanks for the heads up on the scope mount requirement. If I decide this mod. 48 'needs a new home' that's something I'll definately give consideration to. By the way, what would you suggest for a scope, make, model and power?

I was thinking, if I do pick this up or something that potent, it would be primarily for ranges up to about 50m's. Much past that and I'll be bringing out a 'powder burner';):D.

Thanks again guys, much appreciated.:)

Somewhere here recently I saw a price listing on a number of RWS Diana model 48's. It 'seems' to me they were in the mid $300.oo range but I can't find where it was. Or, was I dreaming? I tried google but still can't find it. Can anyone help?
