I am still debating on which one to acquire.... Which of the 2 would the most accurate at 600m+, Both shooting Match Ammo & well scoped by Leupold Mk4's...For the 700P, I have fired my buddies & reached good MOA at 700m. I plan to reach up to 1000m..Any suggestions & comments welcomed...
Cheers!

For for overall accuracy out to the distance stated, a bolt gun is a better choice.Easy to tune, less hassle setting up, and easier to maintain.

Bolt guns have less moving parts, and don't rely on a gas system to cycle the action. Therefore in general, they will be more consistent & reliable.

M14s also run a shorter 22" barrel. For longer ranges, the extra barrel length helps out a lot down range.

The M14 platform can be made in to a top notch shooter, but that requires more time & money then most people are willing to put out.

I have a custom built M14, and a Custom built Rem700.They both are tight shooters, but For serious stuff where accuracy counts, I use the bolt gun.

+1 for the 700p, I own one and love it, I shoot it at a 1000yds without any modifications. The rem 700p is a good choice because all the info needed for getting all the potential accuracy is easily available.

In regard to a semi, I used to own a M1A super match.
It is a very nice gun to shoot, very accurate, but requires alot of maintenance($$$).
Also this gun was not design to shoot with optics, so some $$$ is needed to upgrade the rifle.

In my opinion and also my next project, I will choose a AR10 plateform for a long range semi, probably in 260rem.

I own an accurised AR 15, and it is hard to beat for accuracy and ease to maintain. Lots of after market accessories to upgrade without the need of a gunsmith.

The down side of this choice is that the AR plateform is restricted, but I decided that the gov. would not compromise my choice of quality firearms.
