Hey folks,
I am not a handgun nut so I would very much appreciate any information on this particular piece.

markings are:

MADE IN ITALY MOD. USA
LIBERTY - MONTROSE - CALIF.

ie: any collectible value, safe to fire?, known issues, etc. there is some surface rust, however the bore is pristine. i am currently in the US, hence the <4in barrel.

any info would be greatly appreciated.

Model USA is a variant of the Model 60. Introduced in 1989 and dropped in 1991. Vauable? Probably not. Do a search on the web for that model and look on gunbroker etc to see if any for sale. Safe to fire? No way of telling without inspecting. Have a 'smith check it over to be sure. I am sure parts will be an issue if anything breaks. The rust looks to be a result of storage issues. How much are they trying to sell it for? There may be other better options out there.
Good luck

Parts for Benadelli's are no problemo. They have a website - don't have it to hand at the moment, Google will find it for you - and they answer their emails.

thanks.
got it for free, so cost is no issue.
just seeing if there are any known safety issues and whether or not its worth putting any money into. also wanted to know whether or not it was collectible before i went ahead and cleaned up the rust.

I've had and have Bernadellis - I am impressed with quality - and the design is great. I would just clean it up and enjoy it if I were you. Collectable? Collectable like Ruger - in my opinion.

One of the guns on my wish list is a Bernadelli PO-18.

Also had a couple of the smaller ones over the years; good guns and excellent quality.

thanks guys - was just what i was hoping to hear.
so i will clean off the rust and buy a few boxes of .380 and go shoot the thing.

The rust looks to be a result of storage issues.
its a southern thing.
i have seen dozens of really rusty guns down south in homes and pawn shops. Canadians in general take much better care of their guns - perhaps its because we dont take them for granted? :D

When I was young, my dad taught me how to shoot with a Bernardelli .22 pistol and I was hoping to keep up the tradition with the next generation.

Do you have any Bernardelli pistols you would be willing to part with?

Please PM if you do.

I have a WTB listing in the EE at the moment describing what I'm looking for.
