I recently purchased a few"assorted boxes" of 6mm/243 bullets. One box I had never seen/heard of before. It is marked Sierra Pro Hunter and on the end is marked 6mm, 80 grain -single shot pistol. Bullet number 7150. I am hoping that someone here will be willing to share some knowledge on this bullet. I am hoping also to shoot these bullets at paper only in my Remington Model 700 in 243. I am guessing that the fact they are marked "single shot pistol" does not mean they can not be fired through a rifle.

It probably means they have a light jacket for expansion at pistol velocities.

Should work fine in a rifle. At worst, the light jacket will blow apart before the bullet gets to target. This happens if barrel is rough or velocity is too high.

Should make excellent plinker ammo.

Sierra has Toll Free number you know, so you can talk to one of their tech guys.

Thank you all for your input. I think that you have me headed in the right direction on this bullet. I do have some of the newer "blitz" bullets from Sierra.....this one is likely related with a thin jacket and a flat base instead of the boat tail of the newer blitz 80 grainer. I plan to use them up with moderate velocity loads just for paper targets at 100 yards from kneeling and off hand practice through my Rem 700 ADL in 243.
