Just got a older .308 win rifle from family, and was hoping that someone out there would have some info.
Looks like it was made around '59, very short on info apart from .308 win stamped on barrel and "Globe firearms LTD, Ottawa Canada". It has a side loading non removable magazine and bolt has a ".368" stamping. It does appear to have a small crown stamp, hard to say.
Once I find friggin digital I will try and post a few snaps.
Thanks
P.

I've seen those Norwegian Krags come apart rather drasticly in 308 Win. Usually they will stretch a little first and if you're careful there will be some warning. The rifle was originally built for a steady diet of ammunition produceing less than 45,000psi. The 308 Win produces 50,000+psi with most factory loadings. If you don't have the means, get a gunsmith that knows what he'd doing to check the headspace and single locking lug for you. It's a shame they can be suspect, because they are a slick, nice looking and very well finished action. bearhunter

Not that I know of, Dad used the gun for years without a problem, this excessive pressure thing has me worried now...were they originally 9.3mm?

That looks very similar to one of the first high powered rifles I ever fired. Trev's stock was a bubba'd military tho.

I thought they were all 6.5x54 Mannlicher Schonear (sp)
Those side mags are neat.

I was thinking 9.3 because the bolt has a .368 stamping on it. doin the math... then again, who knows what Globe forearms did then. But, she's nice and clean, still gotta get the gunsmith to do his checks.
