long branch made 7.62 barrels for the british with the bayonet lugs and they made them for competition rifles for members of the DCRA without the lugs...the FN C1 was about to be made in Canada so we didnt really need a 7.62 enfield for the army ....if i remember correctly the british wanted 7.62 enfields for their police and other smaller forces .im not sure if they were a test i beleave they were more of a stop gap until the brits had their FN L1 production started

LongBranch made replacement barrels for the #4 as part of the DCRA target rifle program. members could send their rifles in to be checked over and re-barreled.

The barrels came off the machines complete with bayonet lugs that were usually, but not always, ground off.

A DCRA barrel can be identified by a 4 digit serial number and a stamp that looks a bit like a maple leaf.

LongBranch may have made 7.62 barrels for other purposes, but the DCRA barrels are the most common version seen.

I bought from a p & s canon 308 new
Jean told me that this is a longbranch gun, I believe
it has the bayonet lug and metal color

I wondered when and why longbranch had manufactured barrel in 308 with bayonet lug for lee 4

you know not the barrel?

I possess two DCRA
and there are no markings on the barrel purchased from p & s

This is a project for # 4 mk1 for hunting and target
I bought a new receiver in Marstar and new complete bolt
I extractor 7.62 mag and sterling
and a beautiful stung maple pieces on stock
remains only to adjust it all with a good gunsmith

This is what the DCRA stamp looks like on a receiver and a barrel.
