Hey,
I have been given an Old Beretta Over and Under and am hoping to find some information about the gun.
It was given to me by the original owner was only used it twice.
Its a 12 gauge. P. Beretta made in Italy about 30 years ago. MINT SHAPE

Can anyone offer any resources where I can run the serial number?

thanks,
Jon

Seamus at Shotgunworld is very well informed on Beretta products specially the 391 semi.....here's a thread that might help.

Folks here at CGN might be able to shed some light if you could post some images of the o/u.

The date code will be stamped on the bottom of the barrel in a little rectangular box outline. Either Roman Numerals (before 1974) or letters will be stamped within the box. This code determines the year of manufacture as utilized by the Italian Proof House.

Either consult the resources on ShotgunWorld or let us know what the date code is and we'll help. Good quality photos, particularly of barrel and action markings would be of even more help to determine the model/value.

I haven't run across a resource (other than Beretta itself) that would
determine year of manufacture, model and other specifics of a particular Beretta
shotgun by "running the serial number" yourself.

Beretta used Roman numerals from 1945 through 1975, add the roman numeral to 1944 for the DOM.

Just to "flesh out" the list Mark so kindly posted ...

Some older Berettas were also proof-marked XIII (1935) through XXI (1943).
No proof codes for 1944. For 1986, other Italian made guns may be marked AP.
Finally for 2005 - BZ, 2006 - CA, 2007 - CB, 2008 - CC, 2009 - haven't see one yet, but best guess "CD", however, the odd time, sequential letters are inexplicably skipped.
