Hello All,

I have recently picked up a Ross Bayonet. I believe it is a Mk.III, issued May, 1916. Both it and the scabbard are C Broad Arrow marked, so I assume it was issued to Canadian troops at home or abroad in WWII, due to the date on the scabbard. Any thoughts? What is it's value? I picked it up for $100.00, did I get a good deal?

As pictures say 1000 words, here they are!

I have the same one (Grandfathers') except mine's marked 11/15. I'm not sure about the WW11 sheath since the Ross was WW1 issue. However I'd say you got a decent deal. I've seen them at auctions (worse shape as well) go for anywhere from 80-160$, usually the high side of 100$. Nice find.:D

Hugh Carson, Ottawa scabbard.
Rosses were used for training during WW2, that explains the replacement scabbard.
Typical WWI regrind modification on the blade. Decent speciman, price is OK.

It's worth more than you paid! You did good.

Thank you for the information! A question, will this bayonet work with a P-14 nose cap or a Ross 1905 nosecap? I have a sporter I am trying to restore and I think it would be neat if I could mount this on it.

With luck like yours, Drach, one will turn up, cheap, too.

Good find on the bayonet; nice, clean specimen. These are no longer the underfoot critters they once were, now starting to be appreciated.
