Infratek's Tactical Hand Guard

Maybe he said "solid", not "cast" (I am only guessing that).

The truth is that both top and bottom handguards are
made from Aluminum billet 6000-series treated, hard anodized black. Period.

58

For starters I like the 58/858 type... but it is not a precision rifle. The point of a rail is to mount optics onto. Why mount expensive optics onto a gun that first is not going to be precise and second you are going to be shooting corrosive ammo through? You are going to constantly be taking it appart and cleaning it.

Reality... eventually no matter how good the rail is it will get loose from repetative disassembly and reassembly.

I see the 58/858s as plinkers with cheep ammo.

When non-corrosive ammo arrives it might change things. As you will not have to take it all apart as much.....

Just my 2c

RobAK can you do a test for me? Do you think you could do some bench shooting and remove the top rail as if you were cleaning, replace, shoot, replace, shoot etc. And let us know if it holds zero?

He showed me how solid they were by making my VZ 58 scout mount & my fab guard mounted optics move.

...just wondering how he made the scout mount move , I find mine holds zero without a problem. The only way I lost zero was by removing the top guard to clean the op-rod. When the set screws are tight she won't move under normal conditions and I have the indents from the grub screws on my reciever to prove that. What did he do crack it with a sledge or get a fat Irish woman to do a jig on it? :p
