Dammit, it figures. I finally get some free time. I get all ready to do the ejection window mod on my SKS. I disassemble the rifle. Stick it in a vise. Grab my dremel kit... oh, wait, my father-in-law borrowed it last Saturday and he's gone for a week.

Oh, well. I wanted to sit on my ass all night and drink beer anyway. At least I remembered where the original post was:

Go to Crappy Tire and buy a cheap Jobmate one. Use it and then give it to the father inlaw. Cheap insurance to keeping yours around
 
Don't let anybody know you have tools and DO NOT TELL ANYBODY THAT YOU ARE HANDY. Act like you don't know squat about anything. The F'ers always want to borrow your tools or ask you to help. If you here somebody is moving go shopping in the big city that weekend. Oh big shot bought a new big house but is to cheap to hire movers. Screw that man.

Bitter much? I'm sure you have TONS of friends with that attitude.

With that being said, tools are one thing i dont borrow unless its a special case...and i made the error of letting my neighbor know i'm handy...dude thinks i'm a frigging shop now.....put a stop to that real quick. There's being generous and helpful and then there's the :bigHug::bigHug::bigHug::bigHug::bigHug::bigHug::bigHug:s who take advantage of that.

Yeah, I understand where you are coming from, but it's not like the SKS is a rare gem worth thousands. It's a $200 rifle, there are millions upon millions of them out there, and I happen to already have one that I leave in it's original form. My other one - well I bubba'd the living crap out of it and I enjoyed doing it. Don't be a party pooper.
 
That's why I NEVER lend my tools to anyone. EVER.

When I needed it, I went and bought it, they can all do the same. I'm not a tool rental shop.

As for helping someone out with something that I have the tools to do, sure, if I have time that day, not problem. But my tools come home with me at the end of the day.

Yeah, I'm too nice sometimes. It's one thing to borrow, use, & return in a timely fashion, but to sit on something for a couple of weeks... not cool.
