I collect Hi Powers and just stumbled across a blued Inglis down here in Tennessee (yep, I'm in the SE US). It's a No 2 Mk 1* with a ring hammer and fixed sights. The serial number is6T818.

Is it possible that it started life as a blued gun?

Inglis

Hello and welcome, I am an Inglis owner and have come across some blued CH ser.# ones but these should not be considered authentic finish, standard finish on all these were dark gray parkerizing when they left the factory except for some of the EX prototypes in the white, which could have been refinshed when they became privatley owned. Any of the FTR UK issue ones were usually covered with Sunkorite baked enamel finish over parkerizing when arsenal rebuilt, some of the Belgian or Dutch ones given out by Canada as military aid post war, may have been refinished by those countries and blued. I would tend to say it was refinished by a previous owner. An exellent reference is Collector Grade Publications, The Inglis Diamond by Clive Law. Hope this helps. There are many more knowledgeble people who I am sure will get back to you on this. g2.

As G2 has stated, all Inglis pistols were parkerized (with the exception of some specially numbered guns, including a very few presentation guns ...)

As a standard configuration CH- or T-numbered pistol, it is a sure bet it has been refinished.

Is there any description of the Sunkorite available?

On closer examination it could be a semi-gloss black enamel. I'll try to post a picture later.

Would the UK pistols have any distinguishing markings?

Thanks again for all your help.

BTW, my carry gun is a P12. Perhaps I'll add collecting Canadian handguns to the list.
