I'm looking for any additional information on a recent acquisition. Having always wanted a tangent sight HP I couldn't pass this one up. From what I can tell, it's a late Chinese contract gun (all matching with a JI mag) that made it to China and was refurb'd there based on the blued finish. Am I missing anything in the story? I suppose I'll be on the lookout for a stock now... oh boy!

I think it went to Europe as part of lend lease , probably Belgium.
They re finished some of them in blue and Teflon for the navy

I asked because Belgians liked to serialize those HPs mags to gun. Without any definite provision to link it to any place it's hard to say. The only other clue is that most of HPs in China has seen service in brutal conditions and have significant surface (not just finish) loss. This one probably have seen moderate service so it I would say most likely Belgium refurb with lesser possibility of Chinese refurb.

Century brought in a large number of Browning HP and Colt 1911 pistols from China in the 80's and most of those were reblued.

Certainly looks like one of the Chinese ones.
Took one of the rougher ones, blasted and parked it, and it came up very nicely.

It's way to clean to be a Chinese refurb.

When International Firearms brought those pistols into Canada, from China, a few were sold here, but most went to the US. That happened with a lot of surplus firearms and accessories back then. C68, mostly put an end to that practice.

I had the opportunity to pick through a couple of thousand of the pistols that came in. There were several pallets of them, in big green, wooden boxes. I was allowed to go through several boxes that the people working there had opened randomly to get an idea of what they really had.

Most of the pistols I inspected had been heavily sandblasted, had poor to good bores and a very ugly black finish. The one nice thing about them was that the Chinese, or whomever had taken care to keep the serial numbers matching. All, but a very few were in fair/good only condition, even after refurb. I managed to pick out a half dozen for Mr Lever that were in VG+ condition inside but the outsides still showed severe sandblasting.

I bought about 15 various Inglis HP 's from Allen Lever that were unissued Lend Lease from Greece.
I think there might have been 30 in total. Stock cut fixed sight and fixed sight
I don't know where he got them from in Europe.
It would be interesting to see if there are more of them someplace.
I got Long Branch No4's that were in mint condition that came from there also

The Canadian Navy was issued the tangent sight Inglis HP during the late 50' and early 60's.

I remember seeing them on a ship when the Navy was doing a recruiting drive.
