Apparently, Ingram made a bunch of M1 carbine variants chambered in rounds like 5.56x45, 7.62x39 and even 7.62x51!

Have any of you seen one?

SCDL, any more info on this? A website maybe? I keep coming up with the Auto Ordnance website... can't see anything but 18" carbines, ( and all in the useless original calibre).

Now... maybe they haven't updated their website yet, but I would definately buy an M1 Carbine in 7.62x39 ... as long as it comes with an 18.5" barrel.

Expensive, though.

Finding any info on these is rather difficult. I hoped someone here would know more.

From what I have been able to read on the net, the design dates from the 1970's and had a very short production run and is now a collector's item.

Sooo..... we have the Mini-14, the Mini-30, and the M-14.....

And this is so special why??? :p

exactly what I was thinking

Why would you take a a short carbine like the M1, streach out the reciever and chamber it in 223, 7.62x39 and with more streaching 7.62x51

Now I can understand if you were to rechamber it to take common pistol rounds, 9mm, .40, 357 super, 45ACP etc.... or even something like 218 bee, 256 Win Mag for close range varmit work.

The 5.57MMJ Spitfire was very close to the Bee in power et cetera. I have been using my Bee dies to make up cute keychains from Carbine brass.

Be nice to see a Carbine or similar handling this, a .218 Rimless Bee. I think it would work.

Be even NICER to have a tiny water-cooled, belt-fed Wickers Gun to handle it, but that's not gonna happen. Unless, of course, I can persuade the Pattern Room to let me have that nice little fold-up briefcase Salesman's Sample gun. It's .300 R&R IIRC, but could be converted to handle the Rimless Bee with little trouble: new pawl, new barrel, new Nose Guide in the feed-block, new Gib on the Lock. Worth it, but I think it's a no-go. Maybe we can get Norinco to make up a few thousand of them, $199, EVERYBODY can have one.......

But the utility of something of the general type discussed here cannot be quibbled with. Only question is "what's wrong with what Ruger is making alredy?"

BTW, the NEW RIFLE which Hatcher wrote of in that early NOTEBOOK was the M-14/M-15.

Oh well, back to the sock closet!
