When Dad died, I inherited his handguns. So now I have a nice Luger and a bunch of ammo, of various makes and ages. I understand that shooters with Lugers should avoid high pressure loads made for submachine guns. I know the Remington & Federal commercial loads should be OK, but a lot of it is FMJ military surplus stuff. How do I tell if what I have is submachine gun ammo? I can post headstamps if that would help.
And what kind of load was standard in this gun? It has fixed sights as far as I can tell, so I assume it will shoot to point of aim with only one weight/speed load. I have ammo with bullets from 95 grains to 147 grains.
Luger experts, please advise!

If I had an original Luger (I don't have one) I would shoot commercial plinkingh ammo (Win white box) or make medium power handloads. That gun is old and has some vlue if none of the parts break. Most parts have a serial number and value drops when part replaced.

Buy a Norinco 213 for $99 in 9mm so you can plink all that old ammo.
