This was my Grandpas police service pistol, I'm super excited to own as a family heirloom. Sure would like to shoot it though, I believe it's 32 long colt? Have a look and give me some thoughts :)

Congratulations on keeping that in the family. .32's are beautiful to shoot too.

The ammo is actually fairly easy to come by but I can't provide much help with specifics on the island. Canada Ammo and several other sponsors here have stock.

It's possible I was being to random with my sponsor clicking, thanks :D

The 32 Police Positive is a great gun to shoot. You are in luck; your revolver has the same markings as mine, manufactured in 1927 and takes the 32 S&W Long and 32 S&W short or 32 New Police cartridge - not the 32 Long Colt although some were made for that cartridge also, I believe. The 32 S&W cartridge is still available although you may have some difficulty in finding a dealer as 32 calibre handguns are mostly held by 12(7) or grandfathered individuals hence not a big seller for ammo. The luck part of it is that yours doesn't take 32 Colt ammo. 32 Colt ammo is almost impossible to find and commands a high price - well over $1 per round for even the 32 Short Colt. Your best bet is to embark on a reloading career then you will always have access to ammo. Starline still makes runs of 32 S&W brass. Some of our sponsors can obtain it for you.

Fantastic! Reloading was the next thing on my list to make .308 more affordable time to price out some more dies perhaps!

Look for 32S&W long match ammo for low power loads. A large number of precision bullseye shooters use the round. Lapua and Geco, RWS for the best factory rounds.

A very pleasent gun to shoot. Kids and little women like it , too.

I have two Colt revolvers in that caliber. One like yours and a Cobra.

If you have a buddy who reloads, all you would have to do is buy a set of dies for him and the bullets and brass. Then you would have an endless supply of good cheap ammo.

It's fun to reload.
Brass lasts forever, bullets are cheap and a pound of powder can last you literally thousands of rounds.

Casting is a little tiresome when you cast and cast and cast and then look to see the pot is still 3/4 full. LoL

I have a similar but .38 Colt Police Positive made in 1934 which came to me with the same 'Franzite' grips as shown in your photo, but I found them too small for me.
I put on a set of Asian made wooden grips which provide more bulk, and find them to work well. They did require a bit of fine fitting but look decent and help improve my accuracy..

Thats a beauty, the inheritance laws wouldn't let me take the 38 special it's a stubby too which is too bad.
