I’ve Inherited a Winchester 1892 in 44 wcf and a Winchester 1894 in 30 wcf. Serial number lookup says these are from 1913 and 1914.

Wondering whats I should do with these?

Is it possible to make these usable again if I take them to a gunsmith? I already see that 44-40 amo is basically non existent.

Looking for advise as Ive never owned any firearms that are 100+ years old.

Thanks!

Getting them checked out would be a first step. You just have to hunt for components for 44-40. If you don’t reload I wish you luck. I have multiple guns older than what you have and they still work well so don’t write them off as old and useless.

Thanks to one member in particular who asked about the 44-40. I found that it does include the DCP marking on the barrel and after some brief reading, this rifle seems to have quite the history. Really glad I posted here and thanks to the members who reached out.
