Greeting,

I'm about to inherit a Dillon RL450 press. My buddy, was using it as a turret press and eventually just abandoned it. Lucky me, I get to inherit it. Being a loyal turret press and batch loader for 20+ years, this offer could not be resisted. Can anyone here advise me on this press? I did a few research online but I would like to gather some wise information in this forum.

Thanks in advance!

The 450 is basically a 550 but with a fixed toolhead rather then a removable one.... It's short a few of the standard options on the 550 but they are easily added...

if you are doing a single calibre they are fine as a 450

However if it's an early generation it does have one major thing you should be upgrading and that's the powder measure..... The early ones have fully manual powder measures not case activated ones...

You can also upgrade the 450 to a 550 with a frame change kit... It takes about 3 hours to strip the press and rebuild it... I've done 5 or 6 of them over the last several years... Take your time and keep the parts you pull off handy... Should you decide to upgrade I can get either the 450 upgrades or the 450->550 upgrade kits... Holler at me for pricing....
