I had the time today to clean my new Browning Silver (getting rid of the packing grease and such). This is my first semi, so I took it slow.
I followed a Cabela's guidbook instructions on how to deep clean a Gold. A few questions. One question I have is about the recoil spring and tube.
In the guide, it said to use gun scrub (I used the remington version) on the spring, and use solvent on in the tube. After everything was clean, I did what it said and sprayed the spring and follower with 'drylube'. It didn't say to spray any in the tube, but I gave it a short burst anyways.
Is that enough lube for those parts? There was a coating of oil on the spring and tube before I cleaned it, now its pretty dry.
As for the piston, it was pretty clean. I wiped down the mag tube and put a freash coat of gun oil on it. There was a lot of oil around the gas port area, so I cleaned that off. Do you keep the piston it self dry (no lube)?
And finally, i used the gun scrub stuff on the bolt and trigger assembly. After it dryed, I sprayed some dry lube on those parts, and oiled the slide rails. That sound about right?
Thanks for any input.
