Initial state of CT Mosins???

Hi,

I'm about to buy my first Mosin from CT. I'm just wondering if the headspace, firing pin protrusion, etc is all good to go when you first take possession of the rifle. I know they've been thru the refurbing process, but was Yvan on the ball during refurb?

I guess my question is: Are they all safe to shoot right out of the box? Do I need to order headspace gauges, etc...

I bought a Mosin that didn't match serial number wise. My bolt matches my bayo and the floorplate is forcematched, the buttplate matches reciever....anyway i went with the Okie Headspace guages. i got the no-go and the field guages, which my mismatch bolt passed no issues. When you look at the back of the bolt as long as the firin pin is flush with the back of the bolt and the little guide marks line up, you should be ok. doesnt hurt to check it with the tool though... boiling water, good cleaning, light oil. GTG brotha

Kaboose,

Was CT charging more for M44 carbine than M91-30 or they don't know the difference?

I payed $409 tax included, for mine back in mid February. 91/30s were about $180-$190 at the time IIRC. I already had a(and still do) 1943 PU sniper, and wanted a carbine and lucked out. Now I would like to find a hex receiver one. Perhaps, someday I'll find one but, right now I'm not looking too hard.

Earlier M44 was $400 at my local CT, but they were rough.
The latest one are REAL nice, and priced higher at $420. Worth it though.
