How did you guys get into prs type competition? Prs events seem to be held mostly in the USA and traveling by plane with a rifle does not sound the simplest and pain free experience ever.

Id like to initiate to prs type stuff. I even think about setting up a small 5 stage course for my .22lr to pratice under time constraint and physical effort.

Thanks for your feedback

I shot ORA/DCRA Precision Rifle for a few seasons, with the occasional F-Class practice thrown in. It let me figure out my loads and shooting out to 1000 yards. PR is good because it has snaps and movers, depending on the range.

Not sure if anyone is shooting this in QC but you can shoot it at Connaught in Ottawa or if Tactical Teacher is running his excellent 2-day miniclinic and match in Petawawa. I highly recommend these as the kit you will need is similar to PRS. Also, the instructor is a whole lot of fun and they are good guys out in Pet.

The first PRS style match I shot was actually at Valcartier. Great crew out there as well, although my French wasn't good enough to understand all the jokes! :) Even if the match is sold out, ask the Match Director if you can attend as a spectator. You will find the guys friendly and willing to help a newbie.

You can also sign up for clinics like the one at Meaford this spring. Even if the clinic is sold out, let the organiser know you would be interested in attending in the future.

There also tons of stuff on YouTube and Snipershide.com has a lot of info. Last but not least, look up the posts of our very own Kombayotch on this forum.

Thanks for your comments gents. Here are some specific question that you might be able to answer for me

- Are those events in Canada rsn with bolt rifles?
-What equipment do you need in general (how many mags, sand bags, among others)
- If these are timed, do you pick up your nice empty cases? Do you use some kind of pouch attached to the ejecting port to pick up empty cases?

Might sounds dumb but im wondering...

-Either boltguns or semi-autos.
-2 mags minimum, 3 is better. A rear bag is the minimum you need. Rest is preference.
-You can pick up your cases after everyone in your squad has shot the stage. Marking them in some way helps to identify which are yours.

I mark mine with a thick blue band using a sharpie. People use different colors, different patters and mark different parts of the case (extractor grove is popular).
