Being new to this I have found myself not understanding the term inlet to its full meaning.

Case...on the McMillan tactical stock site it shows a price guide and references in letting...Im pretty sure I know what inlet means, but why are they referencing cheek pieces and other parts of the rifle? Maybe I don't understand what a full inlet job means?

Please expain this too me ;)

FLAT TOP (no inlet)
$338.00
BASIC INLET (action outline & barrel channel)
$390.00
FULL INLET (cheekpiece is extra)
$548.00
action & barrel inlet & molded-in color)
(cheekpiece, pad, studs, rail and other options available – see options tab above)

A full inlet job means that your action and barrel is designed to bolt right in with no work to the stock. I suspect they mention the cheek piece in the full inlet option because it is shown in the picture.

Often with full inletting the manufacturer's tolerance is quite big and some people want the stock with no inletting so they can make it fit their action better or they have a custom action.
