I have been reading about these Remington 870 SPS SuperSlug guns lately, and I am thinking about getting one of them. I currently hunt in a area of Ontario that is a shotgun only area for deer season, but I also go up to a area for rifle season for Moose and Deer, however I bought a Tikka 30/06 rifle and have never used it because I did'nt travel up North for the rifle season.
I'm kind of thinking about selling my un-used Tikka 30/06 and getting one of these SPS SuperSlug guns, because from what I have read about them, they are as accurate as a rifle out to 200 yards, which would pretty much make it as good as a rifle, but could be used in the shotgun only area's of Ontario, plus I could use it up North for deer and moose in the rifle season, since they are supposed to be as accurate as a rifle within 200 yards (with a scope mounted of course).
These guns apparantly have a 24 inch rifled, heavy barrel, that is pinned to the reciever, making it very accurate. I found another website talking about them, and they were showing a nice 2 inch grouping of slugs at a 100 yard target.
Anyone own one of these 870 SPS SuperSlug guns, and can they comment on them? Are they actually as accurate as a average hunting rifle out to 150-200 yards. Here is a picture of what the shotgun looks like. It looks very similar to a regular shurshot 870, but its a entirely different animal.
