Inreach or other satellite communication device recommendations

Morning All, my inreach unit bit the dust over the weekend.

I see there are new Garmin inreach devices, but was wondering if there is another brand/system that works better? Anyone have experience with SPOT or Zoleo or any others im missing?
 
We use Inreach, I was looking at other devices before I decided on the inreach messenger, but we’ve been on inreach for years with friends and work and family, so I thought may as well keep on the route! The only other unit that seems to have great reviews is the zeleo, sounds like a solid competitor to inreach! Both seems to have their pros and cons!!

If you are used to inreach, might be just easier to stay with them….
 
Have been using Zoleo this season, really good unit. The Zoleo device can be used standalone to send check in’s and coordinates to pre set emails/phone numbers and sos, or paired with the app you can email or text message anyone. Message send time is fairly quick, with the app you’re also able to send texts to others with the app if you have cell coverage or wifi when you’re not connected to the Zoleo device. The boss at one job said the service plan is the cheapest with Zoleo vs inreach or spot, I will be buying a personal one to use for work and my own use in the bush.

2 years running Zoleo, the wife and I share it when we don‘t go together on back country trips. Works well, good weather forecasts. I have no reason to switch to one of the other devices.
 
inreach and zoleo use the same satellites. Spot uses another Satellite and it sucks.
I picked Zoleo when it was on sale for $199. I suspend my plan on the off months, still costs 5 bucks a month but I keep my email and phone #. Then just activate for the months I need.
Yes, I need a cell phone except for check ins and SOS. For me it works and was the better deal over inreach mini.
 
A dozen years ago I had a Spot and hated the on again, off again service.

I then went to the original Delorme In-Reach and followed when Garmin bought the company. I am very happy with the service and the option to switch plans back and forth as needed.
 
I personally use a Zoleo and like it. Buddies that I hunt with with have inReach units and they like those, so not sure if that helps you out at all. I found the Zoleo to be cheaper back when I was looking into them.
 
I have ZOLEO
Going on 3 years and 15,000km off road ADV biking with it.
I often ride alone and although I don’t take unnecessary risks it’s there if I need it.
When I’m on trips my family can track me too. They go on sale for $200 and they usually throw in a year of Gaia for free.
As mentioned it’s super easy to cancel at the end of the year and reinstate in a few minutes.
I would buy it again.
 
I activated my Explorer + for a month and never used it on my hunting trip so went to cancel my monthly activation and accidentally cancelled my whole subscription. I hope I won't have a hassle re-subscribing next year.
 
I'm glad to see a lot of people are really liking the Zoleo product. I've been looking to get one of these Sat messengers, and that one is really coming out ahead given how expensive the InReach are.
