I just had Harley at Insite Arms build up my 4th 6.5x47L. He really crushed it with this one and I couldn't have imagined a quicker turn around. It's an outstanding caliber and always has impressive accuracy. But I can say with full confidence the rifle Harley built me is the most accurate I have ever had. I tied for ninth place at the Findlay Cup last weekend with 80 shooters.(which was a blast of a match too) And I only got a chance to run 40rds through the gun before the match.
Harley is great at building them, great at communicating, and knows exactly what us precision rifle guys are all about.

What is your INSITE ARMS story?

Nice shooting! There were a bunch of us at the Findlay, that was really a great match! It was my 1st match shooting my Insite 6mm Creedmoor and it was flawless. I was having a good shoot (19 after day 1) and then got food poisoning and spent all night Saturday puking and shot like #### on Sunday, haha. You going to more matches down in WA? There's a bunch of us that go down quite often.

Adam, that is awesome, great to hear. Harley is just about to spin me up a 6.5x47 too. Will be my first in this caliber, but am excited to see how it performs. (I think this will be my 11-12th barrel from Harley though, and most needed all out zero load development to get them dialled in). In fact the last 3 barrels Harley has done for me, 6BR, 6.5 SAUM, 6.5 Creedmoor, were way under 1/2 moa the first 10 shots thru the barrel, simply amazing!).
I'm curious to hear what load you decided to go with, and what action you've got that barrel on? What are the barrel specs?
I am guessing that our chambers will be very close to the same and cut with the same reamer, so curious to hear what worked well for you to start with.

I've got two loads I like that have worked in all my barrels with some tweaking. I've tried and found the 47L doesn't really like anything over 130gr bullets, the 136scenar is super accurate but doesn't have the BC. I like the 123scenar with 37.5gr Varget out to 1000y and the Berger 130 VLD over 40.5-42gr H4350 goes to 1450-1500y pretty well. The Berger tends not to be quite as forgiving as the scenars but it's an old bullet now and I will be testing some other 130s soon. My barrel is a Bartlien 1-8 finished at 22". I'm getting about 2820fps with the 130 load.
I'd post pictures if it were easier, but photobucket is crappy now so you'll all just have to imagine insanely awesome groups and the coolest looking rifle ever....
Oh, and the Heathen muzzle brake rocks, I was watching swirl all the way to my 450y yards target yesterday.

Thanks Adam, that’s all great info!
I have all those components on hand, accept the 130 VLDs. I have tons of the 123s and they work very well in my Creedmoors too.
Am curious to experiment with some Re16 and 17, to see if there may be any velocity gains and barrel longevity from staying away from H4350?

I have heard from some fellas that buy bullets by the pallet that RL16 and RL26 is pretty awesome. They are big time 65x47L shooters. I'd look at 130 hybrids and the 130 Hornady's and I'm curious about 130 RDFs but I've heard people have some trouble getting those bullets to group. Sierra 123's are super accurate too.

I tried R26 in my 6.5X47. I didn't produce enough velocity because you can't fit enough powder in the case. I see you have a 22" barrel so that sounds about right for velocity compared to my 26" Broughton on my RBROS build. I use 42.2 gr of H4350, CCI 450, 130 Berger Hunting. Gets me 2975 fps. Gotta love the 6.5X47. Oh and the 130 Berger hunting is bad medicine on whitetail. I shoot the 130 AccuBond in my other 6.5X47; it's impressive as well at 2900 fps out of a 25" Benchmark.

I would definitely try the heavier bullets. I don't know where the idea comes from that the 6.5 x 47 doesn't like heavy bullets. I shoot mine currently with 152 Matrix for reduced wind drift due to it's huge BC and have won many matches using the 142 Matrix and Berger 140's over the years. In fact, I quit using the 130 class bullets because the heavy bullets were so much better in the wind.

When I tried the R26 it was with the 147 ELD-M. Just to slow to beat out the 130 Berger at 2975 fps. Think I’ll try the 147 with H 4350 next time. The 147’s did shoot incredible. What kind of speeds do you get with the matrix? What powder do you use?

Tagging in this one for load data...

My go to load is 40.5g H4350 over Berger 130g Hunter. Not sure on speed just getting my chrono back up and running. But consistently shoots better than me so I never bothered to go up in charge.
