Are they still operating? I went through town twice last few days. No answer at the door. Tried calling. I assume I just town at the wrong time maybe?

They are, they are just very busy. Talked to Harley last week about a few builds I am waiting on. And they are looking at setting up a second shop, which is why their wait time is quite a bit longer

Learned a while ago to call ahead if I planned on stopping in.

Although they have some in stock items, I don’t think they want to be in the retail business out of their shop. Sell online…sure, but Harley seems too busy in the back building really nice kit to operate a conventional store.

Never heard about a second shop…what for?

Is Andy still around? I always hear Harleys name, but I haven’t heard Andy in a long time.

It’s a long story, but the short version is, I had them build a rifle for me and when I got it home it wouldn’t feed. After a conversation or two with Andy I learned from him that everybody else in the industry is an idiot(that’s the way he worded it) and he’s the only one who actually knows anything, even though he’s the one who handed me a rifle that didn’t feed. He didn’t offer to fix it or make things right and I definitley wasn’t letting either of those two touch anything else of mine again. As of June,30/2023 Andy was “getting back to me on monday”. I gave up on waiting for a reply quite some time ago.

Now I expect the internet wizards on here will sh it on me for something I did wrong and let me know they’re opinion. Let’s hear it.

What action/caliber/magazine ?
If you ask for something like a 6BR in a 2lug 90deg bolt with a AW magazine then yeah it’s not going to feed well …

Yeah, this is what I expected. I’m wrong because I asked for the wrong thing… If I asked for the wrong thing than they should’ve been able to say that up front… and upon knowing there was a problem could’ve offered to get the rifle back to them so they could fix it.

Here is another story. Bought a new Vudoo and had some problems and Vudoo were not really much help. Harley and Andrew sent me a new barreled action which I received in less than three days in Ontario before I had even packed the defective rifle and shipped it back. I have shot and own some rifles built by Harley and all are more accurate than 99 percent of the operators. Many of the PRS offerings can require fine tuning depending on mags,chassis etc. When Harley builds a gun he shoots a small number of rounds in a tiny hole and sends you the gun. Its not like hes taking it to a match and putting 300 thru it. Youve already stated you wouldnt let them work on anything you own. Kindah difficult to remedy the situation if your not willing to let them look at it. Sensing how pissed you still are from basically two years ago, I can just imagine how the original conversations went. .

I was actually never angry other than when I had to pull my scope off in august and put it on my beater browning to go hunting because my custom rifle wasn’t fit. It was more of a “fool me once, shame on you. fool me twice, shame on me “

That’s to bad! Myself and three other buddies have had roughly 15 rifles built by Harley and all have been flawless except for one which had nothing to do with Insite it was just a bad barrel, however Harley spun me a new one and I was off to the races. I will agree Andy is a bit of a tough one to get ahold of, however they’ve always treated me well. Sorry to hear you had a very different experience.

I’m sorry to hear when somebody has a bad experience, however my own experiences with Insite have been nothing short of excellent.

I did have one issue a few years ago. I had them built me a 300 NM rifle with a Deviant action and a Hardy CF barrel. It was intended to be a medium weight “do-all” long range rifle. Unfortunately, at 1 to 1.5 MOA, it didn’t shoot to my expectations.

Insite accepted my word and said it was their first NFG Hardy barrel. Within 3 or 4 weeks, I received the gun back with a new replacement barrel…I selected a Krieger steel barrel this time, cerakoted to match the rifle. The rifle is certainly heavier than it used to be, but now it’s a sub-half MOA tack driver. They didn’t charge me a penny for the corrective work.

Yes, they’re busy and sometimes hard to reach, but I couldn’t have asked for better service from Harley and Andy.

I saw a sign in a garage one time that kind of reminds me of my dealings with Insite.

I might have the wording slightly off, but it stated something like this:

You have three options regarding the work we do for you…
You can get exceptional quality work;
You can get it done very quickly or;
You can get it done cheaply.

Choose one…

I have never had Insite build a rifle for me, but I can tell you this- if a customer asks to have a rifle built. They expect it to feed properly , not hear excuses.
IIRC , the rifle in question came with the wrong follower for the rifle question.
It should never have left the shop like that!

The version I've seen was a bit more generous, saying "Pick any two..."
