whats the method on checking powder i know your supposed to check for deterioration periodically, but if unopened and seals intact does it still need to be checked, or only if seal has been broken or opened?.

awhile ago when i got into reloading i bought several pounds of powder in 1lb containers opened them all to check, do i have to use them now or can i still store them fine?.

guess what i asking, are the cans of powder vac sealed, and once opened they need to be used?. im a slow reloader and shooter so using all that powder will take years...

thanks.

As long as they're stored in a cool, dry placed, and the containers are sealed, powder may be stored for a LONG time (30 years+).

Just put the cap back on the container with the Styrofoam seal under the cap, and it'll be fine.

Also, avoid rapid fluxuations in temperature. Say for example storage in an outdoor container that could change 30 degrees in the span of 18 hours or so. Multiple cycles of that temperature change is what causes powder to deteriorate.
