i just got a husqvarna (8*57 js)m96 sporter swedish mauser in a gun show.i intend to install a scope for it.
i choose a WEAVER rear 55 for it.it shown can be use on small ring swedish mauser.
However,i found the Husqvarna doesn't have enough space to put this rear base.
So,how to solve this problem?and what base i need to use?

Thanks very much.

There is a one piece bridge mount that has two screws in front, one in the rear, and clears the charger guide.
Or you can reshape the rear bridge, eliminating the charger guide. Then the #55 will fit.

I hope the drilling and tapping will be done using a serious jig - like a Forster.

Your bolt handle will not clear a scope unless very high rings are used.

Go to gswagner.com website and peruse. He worked mostly on Turkish Model 98 Mauser, but is the same issue you are facing. As per Tiriaq's comments, but with pictures. How to mill off the charger guide. How to lay out the scope bases perfectly straight for exact hole locations to drill and tap. BTW - you will not get the correct drill nor the correct taps at Canadian Tire or similar hardware store - only Brownell's or similar gunsmith supplier as far as I know. And, if you are like me, after all that, you will find that your 46/55 bases are not at the exact matching heights, and your rings will need lapping and/or the bases need shimming or bedding. Then you get to fit the bolt handle for your chosen scope's eyepiece clearance. Been done lots, with great variability in quality, by many bubba's and many smith's since as long as mausers have been surplused. (BTW - I have used the one piece bases Tiriaq refers to - Redfield's, I think - but I did not know they were also made for small ring mausers.)

As above, you can modify the front of the base to allow the base to slide forward slightly, and nip the rear corner of the base the match the camming surface for the bolt. This saves having to remove the charger hump.

D&T receiver, bend and grind bolt handle or cut/weld, add low swing safety....
Better off dropping $250 on a Tradex sporter with all that professionally done already.
