In tricking out my 10/22 the only part I had left to add was a bull barrel. It ran 100% as-is, even when extremely fouled up. I added a 16" .920 barrel and wow, does it look amazing! Well, I went out yesterday and was having excessive amounts of misfires, failure to extract, etc..... and the only thing I did was switch out the barrel. It appears to be lined up properly- that being the extractor cut and the extractor itself. I know it's more than likely something simple that I didn't do properly as this was my first attempt. I watched some video on youtube and it looked so simple. I was a little put out seeing it was totally reliable before and after became a lemon. I appreciate any input guys, I know I can't be the first guy to have issues. Thanks in advance.

Did you clean the new barrel before the install? If not then do so, some times there is anti rust inhibiters in the barrel that may mess with the function. Ohter than that it is probably a tighter chamber so I would suggest running a few hundred rounds through it first to see if it will lubricate the chamber a little bit and function better, then also try installing a aftermarket extractor.

You might be getting some barrel drop. This will put the chamber at a slight angle. Try putting a pressure pad under the barrel at the very tip of the stock if it doesn't have one. Loosen off your v-block and put upward pressure on the barrel and retighten also might help.

Worth a try.

I have a pad in there now, and when I get the bugs worked out, I am going to bed with Devcon. It is a Barracuda stock and the action "snaps" in pretty tight now, but I am going to add a pillar, and bed aound the vblock and first couple of inches of the barrel to support it. Thanks for the input!
