I'm putting a brake on my MP15 Sport II never having done it before. When it first gets tight it's just past where it needs to be. Am I going to get nearly a full revolution of crush on the washer? I've ordered a vise block to hold it but a bit worried about the force it will require.
All the videos I've watched they've never had to go more than a half revolution and even then it looked like it was getting super tight.
Any advice from the knowledgeable? Thanks!

Use shims and crush washer to be safe. As long as barrel is fixed dead solid in the vise you can try applying some force.

Or get a specific tools for AR. Like BEV block. Or Accuwashers from Precision armaments.

You can go from a 1/4 of a turn to 1 and 1/4 of a turn with a crush washer at least. Crush washers are the easiest and most efficient to use. Try a crush washer and just torque it until your muzzle brake is aligned and you should be good to go, but make sure you can at the very least get a quarter turn on the crush washer so it's not too light of a torque.

BEV block - wish I'd seen that before I ordered a plain block. I did order the armourer's tool.
Have a new crush washer, just unsure just how much force/rotation can be applied safely. Trying to avoid the "oh sh!t, I'm an idiot" moment.

Edit - $50, plus tax and shipping, for shims. Ffs. The brake was cheaper...

With the crush washer, you tighten then release, tighten then release. The washer will crush down. I got frustrated and sanded it a bit then crushed it the last 180 degrees. I read that it's not recommended to sand a crush washer but it sure helped in my case.

I have used a crush washer and had it do over 200 degrees of rotation. It will flatten down but it will not damage or over-torque anything. They are designed to "crush" at a specific torque value to ensure that no damage can occur. I would still tighten and loosen until aligned instead of just givin-er.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I figured I'd try using the old one to practice and get a feel for it. It went pretty easy using the tighten/back off method. Installed it with the new crush washer, giving it the last quarter turn without backing off.
So for anyone looking to this thread, yes it will go one full 360deg turn on the crush washer fairly easily.
