If I order a mcmillan stock with the pillars already installed, will I need to send it off to a gunsmith to have the barreled action installed, or is it something I can handle on my own with a torque wrench? Have you found the inletting to be very close, or is some work still needed to fit the parts?

Inletting is nearest 100% you will ever see.

What action are you installing it on? I would still recommend on getting it bedded, even though it won't need it as much as a regular stock would.

My Rem700P barrel and action just dropped right in.

Which made me think that bedding would be more important than ever.

Did the bed job myself (my first time) and couldn't be happier with the results.

It's going to be on a 700 short action. I was going to try it without bedding then do it later if it was necessary. Maybe I'll just do it at the start

Yup bed and go.

Altough bedding it on one rifle might doom it if you want to drop-in another action.

My rem 700 XCR-TLR was bedded into my McMillan but when I tried my 700SPS in it, it just wouldn't fit, but since it had to, I removed enough material to allow alot of clearance and generous bedding will ensue once I get it rebarelled :)
