Leg said:Yes, remove the C-clip from the rod and insert it from the other end. Just be careful not to lose the clip. My port door doesn't contact the case deflector at all. You could replace the port door spring and then sand off the portion of the case deflector that is coming in contact with the door.
edited to add: Not to insult your intelligence, but are you sure that you installed the port door spring correctly? Their is no way that it should "flop" open.
You need to turn one end of the port door spring once or twice to give it some tension to flick the door open.

My receiver didn't have a barrel on it when I installed mine, so I took the easy way. I have seen weapons tech's remove the clip and install a new port door in a matter of seconds. They make it look incredibly simple but it would suck big time if you dropped the damn thing.
